She started her career with the film Kangalal Kaithu Sei, which was a flop at the box-office. Afterwards, she was paired with Dhanush in Balu Mahendra's Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam, which flopped at the box-office as well. She is one of the few actresses who star in both critically acclaimed and commercial movies. After several Chennai film industry hits such as Yamadonga, Malaikottai, Paruthi Veeran and Thirakkatha, she has successfully established herself as a promising young actress of the South Indian film industry.
